Billboard's Top 100 had four songs predominantly in Spanish as of 2016, in contrast to two in the year 2015. The Despacito album reached its peak chart-topping success in 2017, 19 songs mainly made in Spanish were in at the very top of 100. It climbed to 41 in 2020. After Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in the year 2017, the most well-known artists began to join forces with reggaeton performers. Drake and Bad Bunny worked together for the track MIA MIA (2018), while Madonna joined forces with Maluma for Medellin, 2019 In 2020, a few Reggaeton musicians were complaining about the advancing of the genre toward the mainstream. Yet, a young generation such as Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep the trend going. He incorporated electronic dance styles and others into his music.
