Simone Biles

Simone Arianne Biles (/sI’moUn ‘baI@lz/; March 14, 1997; 4) is an American gymnast who is artistic. Her seven Olympic medals are tied with Shannon Miller for the most Olympic medals for an American gymnast, and is the ninth most overall. With 25 World Championship medals, she is the most decorated gymnast to ever compete in the Gymnastics World Championships. She is considered by many sources to be the best gymnast ever. [5] In 2022, Biles was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Joe Biden.

Biles won individual gold medals in Rio de Rio's 2016 Summer Olympics. Bronze on balance beam, all-around vault; floor and bronze on vault. Biles also won gold in the United States team, the "Final Five". However, Biles withdrew most of the competition after struggling with "the twisties" the air balance awareness problem that temporarily affects her balance. With the US team, she earned a medal in silver and bronze on balance beam. The team was highly praised for her partial withdrawal, determination and focus on the safety of her mental and physical health. She is also a five-time World all-around champion (2013-15, 2018-19) and five times World floor exercise champion (2013)-2015 and 2018-2019) Two-time World vault champion (2018) and seven-time United States all-around champion (2021 2021), and also the gold medalist on the American team at the 2014 2015, 2014 and 2018 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. She is also three-time World silver medalist (2013, 2014 on vault, 2018-2019 on uneven bars, 2018-2019 on uneven) as well as a three-time World bronze medalist (1915 on vault, 2013 on balance beam and 2018-2019 on balance beam).

Biles is the gymnast who has been awarded the most World medals (25) and also the most World gold medals (19). Biles has now surpassed Vitaly Scherbo’s record of 23 World medals. Biles won her 24th25th and 24th places, both in gold, in the 2019 Stuttgart competition in Stuttgart. Biles is also the only female gymnast to have the highest number of World all-around titles (5). She is the sixth person to be awarded an all-around title in both the World Championships and the Olympics, and the first gymnast since Lilia Podkopayeva in the year 1996 to hold both titles simultaneously. Biles is the 10th American female gymnast, the first American female gymnast to be awarded an individual World medal for every event, and she was the first female gymnast, since Daniela Silivas (1988), to be awarded an award at each Olympic Games or World Championships. Biles was born on 14 March, 1997 in Columbus, Ohio. She is the third of her four siblings. Shanon Biles, her birth mother, couldn't care for Simone and her other kids, Adria, Ashley, or Tevin. The four children were all placed into and out of foster care.

In 2000, Biles' maternal grandfather, Ron Biles, and his second wife, Nellie Cayetano, started temporarily caring for Shanon's kids in the north Houston suburb of Spring, Texas, after learning that his grandchildren had been in foster care. In 2003, the Biles family officially adopted Simone and her younger sister Adria. Ron's sister Shanon, Shanon’s aunt Harriet adopted their two oldest children. Biles is a Belizean citizen, through her adoptive mom and considers Belize her second homeland. Biles and her family are Catholic.
